About us
Merimbula and District Arts Group, Inc (MADAG) began in 1976 through the inspiration and dedication of our founding members and President Dorothy Carr.
MADAG's inaugural meeting was held on July 10, 1976 in the Merimbula Scout Hall accompanied by 16 prospective members.
From a small group of dedicated artists whose aims were to get together with other 'art minded' people our group was formed.
MADAG's first exhibition was held on December 10th, 1976 in the Merimbula Bowling Club's old clubhouse. Since then exhibitions have been held annually in various locations throughout the district, including Twyford Hall, where we currently hold two major exhibitions annually.
After 27 years, in 2003 MADAG opened the Pambula Village Gallery in Quondola Street, realising our vision of providing to members a permanent venue in which to display affordable art and craft to both the local community and visitors.
With the lease on our Quondola Street Gallery ending in 2007 it would be another year before we had the opportunity to re-locate to our present venue in the Oaklands complex in Pambula. The Pambula Village Gallery at Oaklands opened on Sunday May 11 2008.
Membership of our Group currently stands at 90, including 36 who are also members of the Village Gallery at Oaklands in Pambula.
